City dwellers' perception of environmental hazards and risks in Dhaka city

This paper examines the social perceptions against existing overall environmental hazards and pollutions of different residential areas Dhaka Metropolitan area. The empirical data have been collected through a semi-structured questionnaire from 180 households. findings reveal that more than 60% people in are at high risk for due to vast population density unplanned high-rise buildings. Furthermore, on average, 53% respondents uttered various emphatically air, dust noise pollution which now common phenomena unruly behaviors dwellers mismanagement respective authorities. Moreover, lack open space is burning question city dwellers, causes ventilation crisis accelerating indoor claimed by 95% slum dwellers. After all, deprived urban facilities, abiding unhygienic conditions made them prone fire severe health disorders. So, study suggests policymakers corporation authorities should be concerned taken proper initiatives eradicate multifaceted issues fabricate sustainable environment dwellers.
